35 Illegal Buildings Along Angke Dam Demolished

Satpol PP officers demolished 35 illegal buildings on the riverbank of the Angke Dam, Kapuk Urban Village, Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

As its function, the riverbank is a green belt. We already remind the owners not to build the building along the riverbank. But they ignored it. Thus we had to do demolishment

 

Cengkareng Sub-District Head, Ali Maulana Hakim stated that the demolition that takes along 500 meters aims to transform the land as a green belt.

“As its function, the riverbank is a green belt. We already remind them not to build the building along the riverbank. But they ignored it. Thus we had to do demolishment,” he asserted, Thursday (3/19).

 

After being demolished, he stated, his side will coordinate with related unit to put flower pots in such land.

 

Yusnia (42), one of stall owners said she was deliberately building on the land due to it is crowded with the passing vehicles.

 

"I had set up a stall before the riverbank is concreted. But when the project was ongoing, the officers immediately tore down my stall. After it is done, I returned to re-set up my stall. But it was demolished again," she told.
